Remembering!!!!

Tomorrow is September the 11th. This is a day I will never forget for two reasons.

Of course for it being the Anniversary of the Fall of the World Trade center . The Second reason is that it was my Grandmother's Birthday!

My grandmother was so very special to me. She raised me. You see we all lived together. My Mom & Dad and my 3 siblings. From the moment I was brought home my "Momma" was the one who cared for me

I grew up following her around holding on to the the hem of her dress. I went everywhere she did. I can remember on Saturday, she would put on her "good dress' and pin her hat on her head and off we would go walking to "town". .

Such fun we would have. We would get a coke float at the Drug Store Soda Fountain. Then off to the grocery store to buy chicken for the family's Sunday dinner. Of course I would come home with a big bag of candy for me and my sisters and brother.

When I was 16 years old on Easter week-end my Grandmother died in my arms. You see we slept down stairs and the rest of the family slept up stairs. I woke them and they came quickly to help but she had a massive heart attack and was gone almost as fast as she woke me. It was a very hard time for the family. We had the assurance she was with God in his beautiful heaven.

Tomorrow as I recalled all of the special moments I had with her. I too will remember all of the other families who lost the one's they loved on this day. My heart goes out to each one of them. I pray their hearts and minds are filled with many special memories of those they loved so dearly.

Please pause for a moment and remember all those who lost their lives that day. Please remember all those who went to their aid. Please remember all those who are this very moment putting themselves in harms way for our safety and our freedom.

Wonderful post, Mary... What a great relationship you had with your grandmother... I know you miss her terribly. I miss my mother so much also.

YES---let's never forget 9/11. I could cry when thinking about what the families of all of the people who died during 9/11 go through... It's just so very very sad.

God Bless them and God Bless America.
Hugs,
Betsy

Beautifully said, Mary. I'm so glad, too, that you have special memories of this day. It reminds us that there is beauty and joy in our lives, too. Thank you for sharing with me...I'll know better how to pray.

That was traumatic for a 16 year old!
I can see how sad those 911 families are this many years later. All wrongs will be righted one day. Peace will happen!

Oh Mary, I am so sorry that you had to experience that. My grandmother was special to me too. We were lucky to have such loving grandma's. This must be a very hard day for somany, none of us who lived through it will ever forget.

No doubt your grandma was sharing her birthday cake up in heaven with the rest of the angels:-) Such beautiful memories you have of her and I can well imagine how devastating it was to lose her considering she had been a part of your life since the day you were born.

I don't think any of us will ever forget 9/11. I was watching a video yesterday consisting of images from that day and I was just bawling. The years have not eased the sorrow and sadness I felt back then.

Good to see you posting again:-) xoxo
