The Adventure

The air is so refreshing and crisp this Morning!! Katie Ann don't you find it nice. Yes Mandy I love seeing all of the breath taking beauty and the singing of the birds.

Pa look up in the tree there is lots of mistletoe up there. You know how much Ma loves to decorate. I know Joseph over there is a gum ball tree we could gather those for us to string. Yes and when we get to the pine thicket we could pick up lots of pine cones. Yes and we have the dye Ma and Mandy made out of the poke berries this summer. If we dip them they would be so pretty. Yes and we have lots of scraps of material and ribbon we can tie to them.

Mr. Pa there is a holly bush with all of it beautiful green leaves, and red berries. Katie for now you may call me Pa as the other children do. That is if you want and when you get ready as Ma already told you, you can share your story with us.

We are going to have such a grand Christmas. "Pa has the ham cured yet?" " Mandy it will be ready for CHRISTmas cooking." Ma and I have been working on our presents. Katie would you like to help us. Oh yes what grand fun.

Well children we are here. Oh my I have never seen so many trees in one place!! Can we have any tree we want?? Yes we will mark it today and come back on CHRISTmas Eve and cut it down. The cabin will smell so good. We better eat lunch now and head back down the mountain before dark sets in.

Love your story, Mary.... We used to have a 'live' tree --and at the time, I swore that we'd never have a 'fake' one... HOWEVER, these days we have a wonderful 'fake' tree--complete with all of the lights.. It's GREAT -and I love it, even though I can't smell that wonderful smell in the house that I remember... (I did get an evergreen candle!!!ha)

Hugs,
Betsy

Mary, I have never heard of some of the things you've mentioned in this chapter. It sounds like a good old-fashioned Christmas shaping up.

I'm sorry that you've had health troubles. Praying for you right now.

Blessings...
