Sweet Potatoes

With each new season comes the sights, sounds, smells and taste of that season.

I always look forward to the changes that Fall brings with it. I really like the taste,
smells and textures of the foods we choose to eat in the cooler weather.

Tonight for dinner we had baked sweet potatoes or as some people call them yams. Oh they were so good. We split them open and drizzled melted butter inside them. Oh my were they so good!!!

Guess what is for dinner tomorrow night???? My homemade chicken and dumplings. My husband loves this Southern comfort food.

What are some of your favorite foods for the fall? Do you want to share the recipes???

I also like the foods we eat at this time of year. Corn on the cob is one of my favorites, though it is almost done. I love chicken and dumplings and make them several times during the cold winter months. Also lots of roasts and stews.

Take care and enjoy your week.

Blessings,
Mary

Oh my! Does that sound good! I don't cook much for myself any more--I miss all the faces around the table so I keep it simple and eat with the news! However, fall and winter have always been my favorite time of the year to cook. I love long slow oven meals, or crockpot meals. I do have a favorite I used to make a lot. I put it in the oven at 200 when I left for school in the morning, and when I got home at 4, the smell that greeted us was something!! So here it is...

1-1/2 pounds of lean stew beef in cubes
2 envelopes of dry Liptons Onion Soup mix
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
2 cups of red wine (alcohol cooks out)

Put in a covered pot of some kind and cook at 200 degrees for about 8 hours. It is yummy!!

I always served it over brown rice.

Enjoy!

Mmmm I may turn up at your door. I've done it before...beware!

Kendall told me last night that dad needs to get him a coat of many colors! Why I asked? Joseph had one and he was his dad's favorite too.

The big boys are digging his hole today.

Even tho you can get most anything anytime in the supermarket these days it is enjoyable to eat with the seasons isn't it? I always think of fall as *soup weather*. Hearty soups, soups that simmer on the stove for hours.

I really like sweet potatoes too tho.

Mary, I also love sweet potatoes and oven fries are so delicious. Just cut up the sweet potatoes, drizzel some olive oil and seasoning, I like garlic powder and oregano. Toss to coat and bake on a baking sheet at 400 degrees 20 minutes turning half way through. These are so yummy.
