Last Wednesday

I had the best kind of day last Wednesday. It was the day before Thanksgiving. I went to the food pantry sice Thursday is my day and of course that was Thanksgiving. Before I went I went to buy some more sugar and flour. I will back up here just a little bit. On Monday a group of us went on a shopping spree and stocked the pantry for Thanksgiving. It was obvious from the minute we started that this was right in God's plan. We bought food from a store that does not help carry your food to the car. Even though we had lots of foood they did not offer and when I asked they just shurgged their shoulders. I was the youngest person at 54 in this group the other 3 are 20 years older or better than me. The Lord provided and sent two strong men to help us load the jeep and car. One man asked one of the other ladies if we had enough money to pay for this food. They were so taken by what we were doing and were amazed how the churches in our small town come together to help those in need. They recieved a blessing. Then we went and put our food in the pantry. The next is where everthing started happening. The man who was with us got two phone calls about turkeys. We have no refridgeator so can not have these things. I knew a family of 5 children and 2 adults and another of 3 children and 3 adults who could really use the turkeys. Then this gentleman called back and some one gave him enough mone to buy 4 canned hams. So on Wednesday the man who had the turkey brought it to the pantry. While I was thanking him I saw a lady I knew at the post office she came over. She was going shopping for her daughter and Grandchildrenwhom were in need of food. We helped her with as much as we could . While she was there she noticed we were in need of sacks to put the food in. She went home to get the bags when she came back she put a $10.00 bill in my hand. Which I used to buy milk , bread, and eggs for one of the families. Remember the man who brought the first turkey he came back and brought 5 turkey breasts. The other lady and myself started criyng at the love that was spreading. When I finished I had 2 turkey breast and a box of food to deliver. After arriving home I had a message from the lady who got the food for her daughter. She had told her daughter what we were doing and where her food had come from. To explain her daughter had not recieved a turkey as we did not have but the one when she was there that was going to the family of 7. Her daughter started digging in her purse for stamps from the local grocery store. She had enough stamps to get a free turkey which she sent to us. You ask why she did not keep the turkey for herself and child. The answer is that was not God's plan. As she was bringing the last turkey to me I was walking in my yard praying and asking where the turkey was to go. The answer came and that is another story for another post during the Holidays. Whew!!! Along post but so you know God is alive and well and very busy. Blessings!!!!!

Oh, how I love this story! I love it when we see God's plan and love spreading like wildfire!

In light of recent challenges, we were given a Thanksgiving love basket just prior to the holiday. The only thing was, my Mom was already cooking a turkey and I had just purchased all the items needed for my contribution to the dinner (and I don't own a roasting pan because I have never cooked a turkey!) So, God laid it on my heart to bless a neighbor who has also endured some hard times. The smile of her face was precious! And, God continues to pour out!

That is such a wonderful story. We always donate our lemons to the food pantry but this year they turned black because it stayed hot too long. I need to remind my husband to take a check over there. We always say we should go volunteer. Your story makes me want to go down and help out.
