Happy Mothers Day!!!

By the bed she set, wiping her child's head with a cool cloth. Through the night she had kept vigil. The child had fretted and tossed in his sleep. The mother had set and prayed asking Her Father God for a miracle. Her son's temperature had risen and the medicines did not seem to be working as she set there so many things ran through her mind.

Her love for this child had began long before he was born. The first movement of life she felt inside her stirred so much love. At times she felt as though her heart would burst.

The day he was born was one of the most special moments of her life. His first cries were music to her ears. What a healthy pair of lungs he had!!

Then came the cries during the night, though bone tired from the day of work, she cared for her child with joy.

When he began to talk his first words were da-da. This thrilled her soul. He grew from crawling to walking. Every step she took he was there. Later he began to explore the world around him. This brought with it new happenings. He was running and fell scraping his knee. As he was crying she talked with him , trying to calm him as she cleaned and bandaged his knee.

One day he discovered the tree in his front yard and decided to climb it. He got to the top and was too scared to climb down. Even though she was afraid of heights she brought out the ladder, climbed to the top, and rescued her child.

The first day of school came. She took him to the door with tears running down his face. She entrusted her most precious possession to this young woman. She gently squeezed his hand telling him she would be back in a few hours to take him home. You will have fun she said and when we get home we will bake cookies together. She spent the afternoon crying, missing him. When time came she washed her face, pick her child up and baked those cookies. Listening as he happily told her of the events of his day.

The years seem to fly by so quickly. There were so many first. The first baseball game, the school spelling bee. middle school, followed by high school. The drivers license, first date, prom. His first love and his first broken heart. She recalled his first after school job and the summers he mowed lawns.

She began to drift off to sleep. Such sweet sleep it was. She was aroused by her son calling her name and asking for water. His fever had broken. Praise
God. Her son would be okay.

No matter how old he grew, what he did or did not make of his life, where he traveled. Her love was a constant. It was a love that knew no barriers. She had understanding and patience beyond measure.

The gift of Mother hood was one she did not take likely. She thanked God everyday for it and prayed for guidance.

I want to wish all of you a very Happy Mother's Day
