My Weeping Willow Tree

A lifetime ago there was a little girl. This girl had a magical place she went to on almost a daily basis. In the middle of the child's family's yard stood a really large weeping willow tree.

It had long flowing leaves the color of spring green. The leaves reach to the sky and fell to the ground beneath your feet.

A haven for a small child. Inside you could set and cool off on a hot summer day. At night you could look up to the sky and see the stars and moon. Thinking what it would be like to visit another galaxy. Or fly away to meet the man in the moon. Time was spent chasing fireflies and giggling .

It was a place where many books were read. Dreams were dreamt. Plans were made for many adventures. Sometimes tears were shed as life threw it's disappointments . It was a hiding place when one needed a refuge. A place to lie beneath and talk with friends.

Yes this was a special place for a child to grow and enjoy childhood. It was a blissful, happy place.

This old tree is gone now. The sweet happy memories of my childhood are forever etched in the recesses of my mind.

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, Daughters, Daughter-in-law and to each of my friends.

May you spend the day with those you love. Laughter, fun and joy fill your days. Blessings overflowing come to you and yours!!!

My Aunt and Uncle used to have a beautiful old willow tree like you are talking about. My cousins and I had so much fun playing under it. Thanks for the memories ♥

Oh it must've been an enchanting spot for you. Friends had a willow tree, but it was too near the road so we were not allowed to be there. Still, I've known a spot or two that might compare a little.

Happy Mother's Day to you, too, Mary!

I love weeping willows and they are just starting to come alive here now.. We had three in the back yard when we move here.. but we cut them dont and they kept coming back! my husband finally had to burn the stomps and dig them out.. now there are none.. but I do kind of wish there was just one!
happy mothers day!

Mom and Dad had a beautiful willow tree in the back yard..... We played in and around it a lot..... It was started with just a twig many years ago........ Mom and Dad sold the house 7 years ago and those silly people that bought the house chopped it down to put in a silly horse barn......... Broke my heart!

Happy Mothers Day...

Oh I can relate to this! My uncle had such a tree on his property and we would love to play under it, especially in the summer. My cousins and I would love to pretend the branches were curtains on a stage and we would "perform" and swish the curtains back and forth. What fun! Hope your Mother's Day was a fun one!!!

I used to hide under the weeping willow in our back yard as a young girl. No one thought of looking for me there, and I could read to my hearts content.

Thanks for the memories.

God bless.

There are few trees as lovely as the Weeping Willow, a graceful tree indeed. Thank you so much for the beautiful memories. Enjoy your week my friend.

Beautiful memories, Mary... There's nothing better than childhood memories. I remember that we had a beautiful yard and Mama filled it with beautiful flowers. Guess that is where my love of flowers comes from ---although I took them for granted back then.

Hope you are having a great week.
Hugs,
Betsy

Mary,

Weeping willows are my favorite tree, for the same reasons as you mention here. Dozens of them grew along the creek bank and I spent many delightful childhood hours snuggled beneath those branches that draped the ground.

Enjoyed your memories. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Blessings,
Mary
