Memorial Weekend

GOOD EARLY MORNING!!

My back has me up again. So I am trying to type this. It is not a lot better. This is a deep tissue like soreness. I have had back surgery (5 years ago) and I also have two protruding disc in my back. It does not take much to set them off. Enough of that.

Our Granddaughter is coming this weekend and if it does not rain and wash our plans out this is what we are doing.

My husband will be cooking a Boston Pork Butt on the grill. This will be with his homemade sauce. Soooo Good.

While that is cooking he and our grand will be playing croquet. She calls it the game where you hit the ball with the sticks. I will join in if my back allows. I love this game. It brings back so many memories of good times from my childhood.

We will also make our homemade Banana Ice cream. I want to share my recipe with you.

Mary's Banana Ice cream

1 can sweetened condensed milk Put all ingredients into ice cream cylinder

4 cups heavy cream

1 and 1/2 cups of sugar

1 teaspoon really good vanilla

4 mashed ripe bananas

Pour milk in to the full line on the cylinder.

Put the cylinder in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before making the ice cream. This is really good.

I really hope it does not rain us out. This is our Granddaughters little party for making all A's since she begin school. Now she is going into the fourth grade. Of course I am bragging. We are so proud of her.

Sunday we are making the cards to give to all those in our church who have served in the military.

Do you ladies have plans?? I wish you a great weekend.

Edit::::: The ice cream recipe can be used for any flavor you want. Just leave out the bananas and add whatever you like. You can even double the amount of vanilla and make just plain vanilla.

My plans would be to join you for banana ice cream. I've never had any, but it certainly sounds delicious. Your granddaughter is blessed to have grandparents to brag on her. I plan to brag on my grands every chance I get, too. There's something very special about a grandmother/granddaughter relationship.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

Sorry you are having so much trouble with your back, Mary... Prayers coming your way!!!!

Your Memorial Day weekend sounds great. I'm sure the granddaughter will love playing Croquet. I used to play it (and badmitton) all of the time. Love both of them.

Your dinner sounds good--and that ice cream sounds fabulous.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

I trust your week-end will be just perfect...and you will get to play crochet. Sorry about your back. I've suffered with a bad back for years and so I cringe for anyone else who also suffers.

My plans for the week-end are pretty lo-key. I'm having a luncheon tomorrow after church for some of my lady friends. I haven't done much entertaning lately, so that should be fun.

Will visit the graves on Tuesday and avoid the crowds.

Hi sweet Mary

I haven't been by in awhile because of guests from out of town, including our daughter and her future husband, so it feels really good to be blog reading again. I'm so sorry though to read about your back problems. I sure hope you get some relief soon. I hope your weather is good so your plans can come true.

Hugs!

I hope you're able to enjoy the weekend with your granddaughter. You have all the right to brag. She is doing wonderful.

The ice cream sounds delicious. When the swelling goes out of my legs, I'm going to try it.

Happy Memorial Day, my friend.

Awww crocquet reminds me of Victorian times when men and ladies played in their beautiful linen clothes ...are you going to dress that way?
I hope your back allows you to play. Well by now I guess these things have already taken place...

Kiley said she had fun at your house last weekend. Back pain is so bothersome, it makes your whole day go bad. Hope it improves before Kiley comes. Thank you for the tip on making the ice cream, I will give it a try. Have a nice week.

Bananna Ice Cream... oh, that sounds wonderful! Do you have Beef-a-Roo fast food where you are? Maybe they are just local. I don't know, but they have amazing bananna shakes!

Praying for your back... Polly
