Bits and Piecies

Girls, the picnic table my husband painted the other day had to be repainted today. When it rained it washed all the paint off. So he re sanded and repainted this time adding a sealer. It looks really nice. Some of you asked the color. It is redwood stain.

I have to make a cake for a Inter church meeting this week. I found a new to me recipe. I thought I would share with you.

Cherry-Pineapple Surprise

1-20 0z. can crushed pineapple undrained

1-20 oz. can cherry pie filling

1 box dry yellow cake mix

1 cup chopped pecans. I am sure you could use walnuts also.

1 cup melted butter

Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray (PAM) Layer in order the ingredients listed saving the butter for last. Drizzle the melted butter over the top evenly. Bake at 325 for 70 mins.. Let cool before cutting. I plan on taking some type of whipped topping to put on before serving.

As you all know I work with children at church and we make a lot of cards for others. I would like to have them make cards for the people in our church who have served in the military. To thank them for their service to our country. I want to give them to them next Sunday in observance of Memorial Day. I need your help. If any of you have a vintage image of an old postcard with something about Memorial Day or a vintage image of a flag will you please e-mail it to me. I would like to get started on these this Sunday. I thank-you for your help with this.

Tomorrow if it does not rain BBQ Bologna on the grill. It is so good!!

I wish you a Happy Weekend!!!!

Post edited---- Thank-you so much for your help with the images. Thanks to all who sent images and made sugggestions. I have what I need to start the cards tomorrow. You ladies are the best!!!!

I plan on getting DH to BBQ tonight as well (providing the weather warms up and behaves). Think that we are going to have Hamburgers and a salad though.

That cake recipe is going right in my to try box. Sounds absolutely heavenly.

God bless.

Mary, That cake recipe sounds amazing. I have copied it to my recipe file and would like to give it a try. It would be great for my quilt quild meetings. Please let us know how it turns out.

How awful that the paint came off in the rain. But, how nice your sweet husband repainted.

Enjoy your weekend and your barbeque.

hugs karen

The cake recipe looks interesting. How did it come out?

I late and suspect you have enough images but I'll still look through mine in case I have something I think is really unusual.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for the recipe. I wish I could be there while you create those cards. What a wonderful event.

My daughter Ashley is graduating High School and so many events have been on the calendar for the big day. I almost forgot about Memorial Day weekend.

Blessings, Karen
