Weather and Crock Pots

It has been raining all day here. I mean freezing rain, ICE. There are icicles hanging from everything. Trees and power lines are down all over.

We were warned by the weather forecasters last night there was a very good chance this would occur. So I decided to put a pot of soup on in my crock pot before I went to bed. Thinking when my husband came home for lunch this would warm him and taste ever so wonderful.

Guess what???? At 8:30 A.M. this Morning the lights went out. When my husband came home for lunch at Noon the soup in the crock pot was Still hot. Was he ever so happy(not to mentioned how thrilled I was for thinking ahead something I do not always do).

Tonight it is still showering us with ice. (oh The lights did come back on later in the afternoon). They are saying there is snow to come tonight in to tomorrow and even colder temps. Of course the power could go out again.

You guess it. There is now a different soup cooking in that crock pot. Got to keep hubby fed, warm, and happy. LOL

Please keep warm and safe!!!!

Oh Mary--I'm so sorry about your ice and snow. We got lucky this time--and only had rain, at least so far.

Glad your crock pot soup worked out... YUMMY!!! There's nothing better on a cold, winter day/night.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Betsy

I know ice can be treacherous so I hope your husband is safe traveling out in it. What a smart girl you are to have cooked the soup overnight. Why have I never thought to start it then? Thank you for the idea! I hope you have no more power issues.

i LOVE MY CROCKPOT! There should be a bumper sticker proclaiming the virtues of a crockpot, don't you think? How clever of you to think about setting the crockpot up during the night...I'd never dream of that...good tip, pal!

A crockpot is a good friend many times. How wonderful that yours stayed hot even without the electricity...that's kind of amazing really.

Hope that the weather has already eased...ice is so not fun. Pretty, but not fun.

stThanks for the comments on my blog! You have a beautiful blogsite! I especially love you music selections- some of those great songs I hadn't heard for a while. Hopefully it warms up for you there. It's not quite that cold here in Utah!
Have a great day!

Mary!! Oh my gosh! That sounds so cold. I don't know how you all deal with the cold. It drops below 40 here and I think I'm dying. Stay warm. Eat lots of soup. Spring will be here before we know it!

What's in the pot today?

Let me rephrase that...

Mimi and I have been making Valentine tags...she is torn between playing with me or with the many boys who are playing Zoo Tycoon and having snowball fights.

Oh, I really hate it when the power goes out. Good thing you had the soup in the crock pot!!!

I hope you're not without power again today!!

We had since lastnight, about 11" of snow. No ice, thank goodness! No power outages either.

Mary,

I saw on the news were parts of the US are under one inch of ice. That is a lot. They showed pictures of branches falling off trees, powerlines down and a variety of other problems.

Stay safe and warm. We got the snow for the last 18 hours. (It's still snowing.) We are to get the freezing rain overnight. I hope it bypasses us.

Blessings,
Mary

I don't think I could function without a crock pot! When mine broke, I went to get a new one that same day.
