My Friend Jean's meatballs

I have a very dear friend that I have know for along time. Years ago when we first met she made the dish I am about to share with you. These are so good that you think you have died and gone to heaven. With the Holidays fast apporaching I wanted to share a dish that would be perfect for company and for family dinner.

Jean's Swedish Meatballs

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. lean ground pork

1/2 cup minced onion

3/4 cup bread crumbs

1Tbsp. parsley

2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup salad oil

1/4 cup plain flour

1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper

2 cups water

3/4 cup of sour cream

Mix thoroughly first 9 items. Shape into balls about the size of a walnut. Heat oil in skillet and slowly brown. Cook until done. Remove from skillet and keep warm.

Blend flour, paprika, salt and pepper into the oil in the skillet. Cook over low heat, until smooth and bubbly. Stir in water and heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute.

Reduce heat and gradually stir in sour cream, mixing until smooth. Add meatballs; heat through.

I would serve with rice or egg noodles, a green vegetable or a green salad.

This is so wonderful. I have made it several times, but must admit it never taste as good as Jean's. We hope you enjoy it.

Swedish meatballs are always served on Christmas Eve at our house with mashed potatoes and gravy. Everybody loves them. The one year we didn;t make them there was mutiny. The following year my sister had t-shirts made for everyone that said "The meatballs are back!"
