Heartstrings!!!!!

I was thinking of all the things that have touched my heart in so many different ways in the last few days and I want to share some of them with you.

My 78 year old Mother called me right after I returned home from church today. You see she has a pear tree in her yard that has been there since I was a child. My Mom and Grandmother would pick the pears each year and make oh so many wonderful things using them. They made pickled pears, pear honey, pear preserves, and pear butter. In the last few years I have taken on this responsibility.

This morning we are incurring high winds in our area due to Ike. So our pears were being blown off the tree. My Mother was so afraid I would not have any to "put up" that she went outside with her sacks and picked them up. She called to let me know that she had saved the pears for me. You see my Mom is in bad health and this was a very hard thing for her to do. This brought me to tears what a sweet unselfish act to perform. This made me feel so loved.

My daughter called me last night to say Sissy (her Daughter) my (Granddaughter) was mad at me. I asked why of course. My Daughter told me that Sissy had been e-mailing me all week and I had not replied. I told her I had not received any e-mails. My Daughter began laughing loudly. What is so funny said I ?? She said Mom she e-mailed them to Granny @ AOL.com. Now I ask you how sweet is that??

In church this morning we sang this hymn....Holy Ground....

We are standing on holy ground, And I know that there are angels all around. Let us praise Jesus now. We are standing in his presence on holy ground.

When ever I sang this hymn I think of all the dear people I have known and loved who are now in Heaven. I miss them so much!!! I have such sweet memories of each of them and carry these in my heart with me always.

All of these things have made a difference in my life today and have inspired me to make a difference in someone elses life.

Im sorry you have been sick and hope you feel better.
I love that song..sometimes I feel so unworthy to sing it.I know without God we are none worthy, but you will understand what I am saying.
I hope you have a blessed week.

I used to call the health department where many women worked and ask for "Mama".

What a beautiful gesture by your mom. I have a feeling the pear preserves will taste better than ever this year.

Don't you want to bet there is someone out there who has that email address? I'm sure she has had lots of smiles this week if so.

Blessings abound!

My mom, aunt and mammaw made pear preserves, too. Good memories. We sing Holy Ground in our church, too. We sang it yesterday, even. Enjoyed your post. Thank you.

Love the e-mail story. There is nothing quite like a Granddaughter.

You reminded me of a pear butter recipe I have and haven't used in ages. We don't grow pears but they are pretty inexpensive in the markets right now.

Mary Isabella,

What a sweet gesture on the part of your mother. Once a mother always a mother and we think about our children when things like this come up.

Your granddaughter must have wondered why you weren't answering her. I'm sure the boys would be upset if I didn't respond. They get upset if they phone and I'm not here. LOL Grandma isn't supposed to go anywhere you know.

Memories can be bittersweet, but you will meet your loved ones again one day, my friend.

Take care, Mary and enjoy your day.

Blessings,
Mary

Very cute what you Grand daughter thought up for your "e-mail address"
Amazing how their little minds think isn't it? Just so sweet and innocent.

That was wonderful about your Mama. Those Ike winds just blew everywhere didn't they? They were here first then spread all over the U.S......crazy how those things work.

I haven't heard "Holy Ground" in forever!! I know the words by heart of course but our churches just sing the newer songs so we never hear it unless we are somewhere different....or a special event or something.
Thanks for the memory....it's a great son.
