Yesterday my five year old Grandson had to go to the hospital for some tests which included an MRI and having to have a IV put in.
Since there was radiation involved his Mother was not allow to stay with him. (this is a special needs child and he is very attached to his Mother). The male nurse who was taking care of him explained everything and My Grandson was fine with it.
He did not flinch or make a sound when they placed the IV in. Then they placed him into the MRI machine and began to explain each step to him. They placed a wash cloth over his eyes and placed headphones on his head so he could listen to age appropriate music during his test. Next he was told to lay very still.
My Grandson did everything asked of him. He lay still and they were able to get really good pictures on the first try.
While they were getting him dressed the male nurse who had taken care of him slipped out of the room. You see he was on a mission of love. He went to the hospital gift shop and bought my Grandson a puppy dog hand puppet; that barks when you move it.
When he came back into the room he told my Grandson that he had found a puppy who need a home and asked if he would like it. My Grandson said yes. The man then gave him the puppet. My daughter said her son's eyes lit up like it was Christmas. He was so happy.
As my daughter was thanking the nurse for this incredibly kind gift he told her he was not married and did not have any children. That when a child came along who was so good with the test he wanted them to know how proud he was of them.
My son and the nurse named the dog Rusty. Rusty is a very special little puppy who is giving a very special little boy so much pleasure. And he was given to our Grandson by one of God's special people.

I'm so glad to hear your grandson had such a caring nurse! What a blessing!
That is so sweet. You can tell when a nurse is God called.
We are so worried our little Keller will have to be put to sleep to have an MRI.He will be a month old when it is done next week. They are checking for Tethered cord( a form of Spina Bifida) we are just praying for his healing, but I know his mom will go nuts. I am going to have to be strong.I hope we have a good nurse like you guys did.
Thanks for the kind words..you are a true blessing.
It is great to see how God watches so tenderly for His little ones.
What a sweet sign of God's love.
Thanks for stopping by and I would like to let you know that the water is back down and I am seeing rocks again!
Thank you God!
Special nurses are so rare....especially for children. Thank goodness he was there for your grandson. Hope all is well with him...and I wish him a speedy recovery on his ordeal.
What a wonderful story. It is so nice to see such kindness. What a remarkable man that nurse was. And what a brave boy your grandson is!!
Your story was uplifting for me this morning. I've had a lifetime career in health care and so often we hear negative things. Most of us chose that career because we CARE about people.
Best wishes to your Grandson. He's braver than I am. The first time they put me in for an MRI they had to bring me right back out ... but then I did ok.

What a sweet story! I know God places angels in our path and it sounds like this was one of them.
I hope your grandson is okay.

Nurses are special people who, like teachers, get little thanks. I wonder if he knows how many people are reading about him, and that his story is out in cyberland? Great post, hope the MRI comes out nice and positive!

When I read your post, I cried. I cried because it is moments like that which remind us that when we are going through trials God is there. How lovely that your grandson could have such an angel to be with him during an otherwise anxious time. I hope everything is fine. Blessings, Karen
