Corn!!!!

You know my favorite part of Summer is when the Fresh Corn comes in. It is a weakness for me. I so love to eat it. I like yellow corn boiled or roasted on the cob with lots of butter. I like white corn cut off the cob and fried. I like to serve this with fresh homegrown sliced tomatoes and bacon fried nice and crisp. I really do not care what time of the day it is. I can eat this meal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

I just felt like sharing something fun with you. Want to play along??? What is your favorite summer time food and how do you prepare it??

I love having backyard parties with the neighbors. We could eat just about anything and it'd be fun but I like to make bacon cheesburgers with the cheese hidden in the middle of the burger! The real hidden ingredient though is the worcestershire sauce. They can be made in the oven and still taste like they were grilled. Have a great afternoon. Blessings... Polly

Sure would love to share my favorite summertime food!
Fried Green tomatoes!!! NOT LIKE THE MOVIE)
~Take a green tomatoe with a blush of ~pink coming on it!
~slice ~1/4" thick, no thicker
~dip in flower
~salt and pepper each side
~fry in the god old iron fry pan until golden brown.

Have you tried: grilling your corn, husk off, rubbing a cut lime all over it that was dipped in chillie powder? my neighbor from India taught me that one, she also uses an Indian spice.

mary

Mary, I went to the market to buy some fresh lettuce and green beans, and they had the coolest thing. A few ears of corn just ready for popping. You the dried ear of corn in a paper bag and put it in the microwave for about 4 minutes. It was so fun to see the popped kernals still on the cobb. It tasted so fresh.

P.S. I have an award for you on my post today. So, please stop by and take it home. Karen

Mary Isabella,

It will be another month or so before the local sweet corn is ripe. It is one of my favorite foods.

The boys and I planted some tomatoes and they will be ready about the same time as the corn. I can hardly wait. Mmm! Delicious.

Blessings,
Mary

I love corn on the cob as well, with lots of butter and salt! Yummm! I've never fried corn and actually just heard about doing that on another blog..will have to try it one day. Our local corn isn't ready yet so I'm impatiently waiting for it to be available!!! My favourite summer food has to be a hamburger grilled on the barbecue and the bun toasted as well...with my own tomatoes and green onions...drooling now!!! xoxo

Oh yes, fresh corn...and I peel back the husk, clean off the silk, pull the husk back up bag and freeze it and it's like summer all over again in the winter! My favorite summer fare? Watermelon, to prepare drop down into a squat, drop the melon hard enough on the ground to split it, dig in with both hands...nothing ladylike about it but it's how my Grandfather taught us to eat them...lucky I have my saltshaker in my pocket! Never had watermelon with salt? What are you waiting for?
