This too shall pass.

My son was mowing a friend's yard on Saturday. This friend has been ill and the grass was overgrown. As he was mowing he struck something with the mower and it hit him in the leg. Thus removing a large piece and leaving a 1 and a half inch hole in his leg.

Our son phoned us and my husband took him to the E.R. They arrive at 8:30 and at 11:30 were still not seen by our doctor. They were told 14 patients were ahead of them. A paramedic neighbor of his wrapped his leg applying pressure to help control the bleeding. But at this point he was bleeding out the top of the bandage and dripping onto the floor. They took him back and over the others at this point.

They cleaned the wound and irrigated it. Then x-rayed it to see if their were any foreign objects in it. Then they pulled it together using 5 staples.

Today he is in pain still and it is swollen.

I am so thankful that we were able to get him to the hospital in time and he did not bleed to death. Which could have been a real possibility.....

I am so sorry to read that your son was injured...and while helping a neighbor, too. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair. Prayers that the pain will end and that the healing will continue at a good clip. Take care down there!

I trust that your son will experience rapid healing of that injury. He must be a caring young man to be out helping his neighbor. Sorry it ended with an accident. I know your heart is hurting over this.

Its been about a week since I visited any of my favorite blogs and I loved the blog before this one where you tell of your childhood days. "Waste not, want not" and all the others that Mom used to say to us. Those words still resonate in my brain from time to time.

My gentle little mother used to come up with some zingers when she was frustrated with us.."go to the ant, thou sluggard, consider her ways, and be wise".(Proverbs) This would come after we hadn't done our chores. Its funny how those sayings stay in the mind.

Keep us posted on your son.

Blessings,
Joan

I had not read the details until now. OUCH! My only point of reference was when I was in 3rd grade and was carving a Kachina doll for Indian studies. I was so into my creativity that I forgot about the angle of the knife and sliced my leg open. My Mom didn't think that I should go to the hospital. Hence, I still have an eye shaped scar. I can relate to the bleeding, that's for sure!

I pray that your son's wound is healing well and that the pain has subsided.
