"Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle". Author unknown to me. I received this quote the other day in an e-mail and it has brought many things to mind.
This past week I went with a group of ladies from our church to help a precious young woman move her things from her home. She and her daughter had to leave their home due to the breakup of her marriage. This was such a sad experience. For this young woman is an amazing person and is so kind to everyone. We all know that she is so hurting at the moment. These women that were with me went beyond all boundaries expressing their concern and love for this young woman. She was and is being lifted up in prayer. Her strength comes from the Lord and the powerful love her family has for her and each other.
So this quote brought to mind that when we this young lady is at the store or the bank going about her daily tasks, with her beautiful smile upon her face we do not know the battle she is fighting.
How many people do we meet each day who are fighting battles? Each of the battles are different it could be medical problems, money issues, problems and concerns with their children, worries over the care of their elderly parents, or work related issues. Do we take the time to stop and smile at them or to even say hello? These are small things that only take a minute of our time but can make a big difference in someone's life.
Please lift my friend and her family up in prayer!!!!!!

Great post. We never know and it is up to us to see that they know that they make a difference in our lives. connie from Texas
Everyday I try to say hello to strangers walking down the street instead of turning my eyes away. I say thank you when someone does something for me, and I try to hold the door for the next person, but it always amazes me how really rude a society we have become. Each day I encounter several rude people who just don't care about their fellow man! How truly sad that is, and it is those people that I pray for that will see the truth. I will pray for your friend as well.
Oh Mary, you are so right. My daughter went out with her friend last evening, and was told that one of her closest friend's mother just found out that she has breast cancer. The mother is the sole provider for the family, and now what? I am glad that you reminded us about this, you are always so mindful. Perhaps if everyone thought about the unknown battles we would all be kinder in the world. Thank you Mary, I love your words. Blessings, Karen
Prayer helps so much! It always helps me through my hard times and my good times. I will pray for your friend.
You are a wonderful person

Dear Mary, you are so right. We just never know...a smile or a kind word could be just the think to make someones day.
Hugs Karen
That saying is so true and makes me think of how often I don't respond when I could have.
I have an award for you at my blog today. No strings attached!
I'm praying for her and her baby girl. They are so sweet.
Mary,
I am always signing off my posts by saying, Please do a random act of kindness today. Even a smile can brighten someone's life." And that is so true. Thank you for passing on the message.

Thank you for stating it so wonderfully.

You are so kind to ask for prayers for your young friend. Life holds so many challenges and we wouldn't make it through without faith and wonderful friends (just like you).
Wonderful post Mary. Smiles can hide the deepest hurts and we never know what is happening in a persons life. Thank you so much for the reminder. I will lift up your friend in prayer.
God bless.
I so agree and I had that little saying on my sidebar for quite sometime....It is so true.
Also, it's true that we need to set good examples ....
Have you heard the country song about the little boy that said his prayers at night and his dad said, "Where did you learn to pray like that?" and the little boy says, "I've been watchin' you, Dad." I love that song...
love, bj
What a lovely post! We don't ever know what's going on in someone else's life. Things are not always as they appear! Thanks for the reminder.

Wonderful post!! This is so true. It takes so little to be friendly, to help someone, to make a difference!
I try to smile at everyone I meet, to say thank you and mean it, to hold a door, offer my seat, a place in line...
Do a random act of kindness, nor for the recognition but for the sheer joy of being nice to another human being.
Blessings to you dear heart and have a sweet weekend!
Hugs,
Sue
Mary,
this is such a good reminder that we never know what someone else may be going through...and you are right it is so easy for us to smile and say a kind word...and that may be just what they need at the moment to help them lift themselves up...
thank you for this reminder...
Love,
Mimi
I love that quote and am going to print it large and take it to work! I'm a social worker at our local DSS, and we all need that reminder now and then! PERFECT! thank you for sharing it!

You're so right. Everyone we come across can benefit from the tiny extra effort to give kindness. Those of us who have been through a divorce know the darkness of feeling alone. Let's be the friend that says, "You're not alone." Blessings...Polly
I hope that young woman finds her "feet" soon. She was blessed to have you and the other women to help her.
Mary,
This quote is sooo true. We don't know what is going on in peoples' heart. So many ,even Christians carry burdens that some of us could never take, or think we couldn't.
We need to see the person as another whome Jesus died for with a soul need of HIM as Saviour.
Great post.

Hi Mary Isabella,
Thank you for reminding me of this.. i try to be kind, even to those taht cut me off in traffic, cut in line at the grocery store, or send daggers from their eyes. You just never know when the other person is hurting, has lost a loved one, or perhaps doesn't have any one to love.
thank you for reminding!
xoxo~

I received an email like that too, and it is so true. That was sweet of you all to help the young lady move. I will pray for her and her daughter.
Good Morning Mary,
I really enjoyed this post and "THANK YOU" for reminding us to always be nice to everyone. When I am out and about and I meet someone, I always try to smile at them. One never knows what they are going thru. I will pray for your friend that is going thru this difficult time in her life. I have been thru a divorce myself, and I know how hard it is on a person. I have somethings for you on my post for today. I hope you will stop by and pick them up when you have time. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
