April Fool's Day was always one of my Dad's favorite hoildays. I remember one year we (3 children) had been sick with colds. So my Dad came in with these beautiful wrapped boxes. Oh they were so pretty and we were so excited. We had to wait until after the evening meal to open them. We could hardly contain ourselves. At last he allowed us to open our packages as we tore into them he was standing there laughing so hard and loud shouting April Fool's Day. To say we were not Happy with any of this is an understatement. We spent years trying to outdo him but never could.
Hope you had fun today!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dad sounds like a fun man!!! I get nervous on April Fools Day,I am easily tricked!
Hope you had a great one:-)
How sad for a kid, tho. You dad sounds like a practical joker! No joke for me yesterday~ thank goodness. Have a great day.
Good Morning Mary,
Well shame on your Dad for doing that to yall. LOL. Just kidding with you there. You Dad sounds like a funny man to be around. I stayed home yesterday and didn't go anywhere, so I didn't get fooled. Now last night when we went to lay down for the night, our youngest daughter started telling me things and saying April Fool's. LOL. She said some of the kids played April Fool's Jokes on some of the kids yesterday at School. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
What a fun story!!
Oh my goodness...I would've cried! Did any of you?
That certainly is a memory that will stay with you for sure!
On Friday I am having a 200th post giveaway so make sure you pop over for coffee then!
hugs,
Robin
I hope that he made up for that on April 2! Children receive disappointments so acutely.
I know that it's a fun memory for you now, right?
Your dad sounds like mine. He made it his goal to fool us all every year. We didn't have the heart to do much foolin'. although I did tell my mom he had a ladybug in the butter and she looked! haha.. kind of a shameful one comparatively. Thanks for the memory of your dad.
Oh yes he made up for it the next day with candy bars for everyone!!! But he was still laughing and it is a fun memory of him now. All of us even My Mom who is still living laughed about it yesterday......Smiles
Shame on him! LOL! My dad never did any of the prankster stuff! I think I missed out! : P
Thanks for visiting my blog! Hope to see you often!

Hello dear Mary:-)
I'm finally back to regular blogging and trying to get caught up with everyone...it's slow going but I'm getting there! Thank you so much for your best wishes regarding my finding out that I will be a grandma...can't tell you enough how thrilled I am:-)
Your dad sounds like he was a lot like my own dad...loved to play tricks on us kids on April Fool's Day! hehe I can well imagine how disappointed you all were at opening empty boxes but I can also see the humour in it! lol xox
Hi Mary, We had a great April Fools Day. The temperature went up to around 50 degrees and then in the later in afternoon plunged down to below freezing. We all thought it was here to stay, but...April Fools. It's so nice to have happy memories of days gone bye.
Hugs Karen
My daughter stayed overnight with my parents last weekend and she came home telling me that she kept finding an orange stuffed into her coat sleeve. I'm so thrilled that "papa" passed along his silly tricks to my daughter! My sister and I still try to get a way with putting goofy things in his work boots, etc. =) Blessings... Polly
That is so funny! You dad sound like a great man! I don't think that gag can be out done!
Hugs,
Laurie
Our daughter is here visiting so my blog visiting time is limited, but I wanted to stop by and say "Hi".
Hugs!

Prayers for your grandson are going up from me, Mary. I, being a grandmother, know how hard it is when our babies are sick or hurt. It is the most heartbreaking thing and we would, in the blink of an eye, change places with them if we only could.
Lots of hugs, bj
how did your Dad top that trick the next year?
He sounds like a real fun jokster....
I'll bet you had lots of fun with him when you were kids...
fond memories,
Mimi
That sounds like something my hubby would do! :) Even though you didn't like it then, it's a cherished memory now.
I am betting that he was a hoot!
I am always being caught off guard so I decided to be careful...Grace has the week off and we had decided to sleep in until about 9am. Bill had started the dishwasher before he left for work...Grace woke me up at 7:30 (she had gone down for a glass of water) saying, "Mommy! The dishwasher spilled and there is water and bubbles all over the floor!" I thought it was a joke and laughed saying, "Good one Grace but no way!" Sadly, it was true!! That was no way to wake up! She and I baled and mopped for an hour!!
Argh!!
I hope your April is wonderful!!
Hugs,
Sue
I was born on April Fool's Day, and nobody believed my poor daddy when he told them, since I was early. Finally my mother's mother did believe him.
