The Biding Begins

Gentlemen the next box lunch up for bid is Miss Emily's. The heavenly aroma coming from this box tells me it is Roast Beef. So who will open the bidding? I bid $1.00 shouted Henry. Emily gripped Amanda's hand. Oh this makes me so jittery. Stay clam my Dear. I think it so exciting!! William stood I raise the bid to $3.00 . $4.00 comes from John in the back of the room. This come so quickly Henry couldn't get his bid in. He jumped out of his seat,I bid $8.00. Oh my goodness Emily whispered to Amanda I am so embrassed. Quite my Dear. William stood I aim to be eating Roast beef for dinner I bid $15.00. A hush went through the room. What an unbelieveable sum. Henry and John both arose at the same time. John bid $20.00 and Henry bid $25.00. That is it for me said John, good luck fellows and he sat down. William arose from his chair and addressed William. It seems this is between the two of us. I bid $35.00 and I up your bid to $50.00 said William. Henry stood and glared at William and the bidding went back and forth getting to $75.00.
This is enough came a calm voice I will now put in my bid. A Gentleman made his way to the front of the room. I bid $200.00 . Everyone grew very quite . Amanda stood and who might you be. My name is Adam and I am the new governor of this township.
It appears my friends that the bid is now $200.00 any more bids. No. then I declare this Gentleman the winner. The lunch is all yours. We thank you for your bid. We are very close to having all the money for our new church bell.
By this time Emily is so stirred up with embrassment that she is about to faint. Amanda fearing that she is going to swoon takes the smelling salts out of her bag.
Adam walks over to Emily and bows. My lady my name is Adam Hollingsworth and I am at your service. Then he reaches for her hand and kisses it.
This is all too much for Emily and she faints.
