The New Year and New Beginnings

There is an old saying my Grandmother would always remind us of on New Years Day. She would tell us that what you were doing on the first day of the New Year you would be doing that all year long. That just kind of stuck in my mind. So on the first day of the year I try to avoid those things that are unpleaseant to me. I do not allow myself to get caught up in an disaggrement with anyone,I do not ask anyone to do anything I am not willing to do myself{like take out the garbage]. LOL I do however make it a habbit to call each member of my family and my husband's family on this day to tell them how important they are to us and to wish them the blessings of a New Year. I do cook the southern favorite of blackeyed peas and cornbread. I also make a sweet my husband really enjoys {bannana pudding]. I spend time with my husband watching old movies, I treat myself to a bubble bath, good book and a great cup of tea. It is important I take care of me all year so I can take care of my family. Most importantly I begin my day and end my day spending time with my Lord, prasing and thanking him for all that is---- in my life. I want to be caught doing this all year long;Praising my Savior!!!!! This is a time of new beginings and a chance at a brand new year. I pray for the chance to really make a postive difference this year in the lives of all those I come into contact with!!! Blessings of the New Year to each of you!!!!

What a wonderful way to start off the new year. It sounds like alot of bloggers have black eye peas and cornbeard on New Years. I love cornbread but have never had black eye peas. I love the idea of calling everyone. Sounds like a great start to the new year!

This is where I need to work on. I find myself so busy with other peoples things that I forget to think about my needs. There are times when I can get to 4 in the afternoon and realise I didnt have lunch or have not had a drink all day. Certainly something to think about.

hat a wise way to begin the new year. Living intentionally, keeping your goals for living in mind and making your first day of the new year an example for yourself and others of what the rest of the year should be:>) Happy New Year to you Mary!
