The Landlord

Good Morning Emily!!!! A happy Christmas Eve to you. Happy Christmas Eve to you also Henry. I Bet Victoria is really getting excited about Santa's coming. Yes she is and I was hoping to get a little shopping in before I return home to finish the sewing. This will be the first year she will get a store bought doll. When I bring her to town she presses her nose up to the window looking at the sweet china doll all dressed in red. I am hoping it will still be there. At this moment Henry that a marvelious idea. Please excuse me Emily I have an erand to run, but may I talk with you later. Yes Henry that would be nice. As the morning went by Emily was busy waiting on many costumers. They were all Happy as they went about the buissness of gettting ready for Christmas. Henry all the while was walking around with a big smile on his face. You see his errand had been to get The china doll for Emily. What a grand felling this was for Henry !!! To be able to buy something that would bring such joy to someone else. Later in the day the landowner came in the bank. Emily I have come to drive you home. My wife is in a tissy thinking you are not going to have the children's dresses finish in time for the big party tonight. Emily loooked so sad. I was hoping to get in a little shopping after work. No time for that we must hurry.!! The smile dropped from Henry's face. His wonderful surprise had been ruined as he was going to Take Emily to the new tea room that had just opened and give her the doll he had bought for Victoria. Henry calmly turned to Emily and said you may leave early Emily. It is okay. That way you can finish and still have time to make your own Christmas. Oh Henry how kind of you. She squeezed his hand . For the second time today his heart skipped a beat. Henry would you like to come by later for a lite supper and tea. Would he like to come by?? Do children want Santa to visit them??? Oh yes that would be lovely The smile returned to Henry's face. As Emily gather her things and was leaving Henry had a brand new plan. He must hurry so much to get done before this evening!!!!
