After being wisked off by her landlord Emily began working on the party dresses for his wife and daughters. As she stiched away Victoria was busy making her Christmas cards. Emily was so upset. she had worked two jobs in order to be able to buy the doll Victoria wanted for Christmas. Plus she had been waiting months for Henry to ask her out to dinner and now when he was finally ready she could not accept. Then a smile came across her face. I am almost through with these dresses . I only have to set the hem in Victoria's dreeses and her new coat. The dress she had stiched for herself was finished.I can pop the ham in the oven and it will be baking while I finish up.Then I will mix up the choclate cake and the bread so when the ham finishes they can go into the hearth stove. I will put the green beans and little potatoes I canned into the kettle along with a piece of side meat and they can simmer over the coals. She went about her work with a song in her heart. Emily held no malice against her landlord and his family. There is no need in crying over spilt milk. Her fingers flew through the sewing and the amora of the roasting meat filled the tiny house. In no time she had finished the dresses and delivered them. The landlords wife gifted Victoria with a tin tea set and a box of oranges and apples. She presented Emily with a gallion of homemade apple cider, fresh eggs ,milk and butter from their cow. Emily was so very thankful for the generious gifts. Emily had made each of the girls and their Mother and Father handcheifs with their initals on them. They were very surprised with them.Everyone parted company grateful for the gifts they had been given. When Emily returned home she put some of the cider into the kettle and cut one of the oranges adding it along with a cinnamion stick to the kettle.Victoria she said we must hurry and dress for supper!! Why the young child asked,Emily replied that they were having special company for dinner. Victoria's face lit up. Who is coming Mother? You have met Henry from the bank ? Oh yes said Victoria. He will be sharing our Christmas Eve Dinner with us. The little girl squealed with delight and rushed off to get ready so she would have time to make a gift for Henry. Emily got out her best dishes and silver candle sticks to set the table with. Off she went to get dressed. Henry had been watching the clock all day. He had so many errands to run. First to the jewelers to buy his Mother a string of pearls. She would say they were to grand for her,but she would be so happy he had gottened them. Then he must go to the general store to purchase gifts for Emily and Victoria. For Victoria he bought clothes for the doll he had gotten earlier in the day. Then he would buy crayons, paperdolls a new coloring book and candy canes, marbles and a small ball for her stocking. He wanted to make this a grand Christmas for the wee one as she was such a sweet child not asking her Mother for anything. Then for Victoria he would buy her a new wollen shawl as hers was thin and worned. Also he would gift her with some new books to read to Victoria and some for herself. Then he would fill the larder with flour, sugar cornmeal ,rice dryed beans and other foods he knew Emily and Victoria were in need of. Also he would treat them to a special box of chocolates. Oh yes he would make this a grand Christmas for them His heart was racing as he could not wait to Celebrate Christmas with them . As he walked to the door of the tiny house he could hear the laughter of Mother and child and smell the delicious aroma of food cooking. He smiled , Thinking that for the the first time in a very long while he was very happy. He knocked on the door. On the other side of the door Emily
jumped with excitment as she raced to open the door.

Oh, I just love your gift of story telling. Let me see now, you love the Lord, writing and being with children. You are truly a kindred spirit. Thank you for visiting my blog. I have another blog just for children stories that I wrote for my girls when they were little. The link is on my blog. I love how you are writing a bit and giving us time to think before you write some more. Blessings, Karen
